Anyone planning to run a pub, restaurant or shop in England or Wales needs a licence before they can authorise alcohol sales. A Personal Alcohol Licence Course Online is now the usual starting point, yet providers differ widely in price, support and exam arrangements. Industry experts suggest that a few simple checks can save weeks of frustration.

Why the Choice of Course Matters

A weak course leaves gaps that only show up on exam day. A good one builds real understanding of the law, which is useful long after the certificate arrives.

The qualification suits several groups:

● Aspiring Designated Premises Supervisors

● Pub, bar, hotel and shop managers

● Business owners who sell alcohol

● Team members moving into management

Applicants must be 18 or over.

What a Good Personal Alcohol Licence Course Online Looks Like

According to training specialists, the best courses feel structured, not rushed. Learners should see clear modules, plenty of practice material and a handbook they can keep.

Topics the Learning Should Cover

● Licensing objectives and the role of licensing authorities

● Duties of the Designated Premises Supervisor

● Temporary and unauthorised licensable activities

● Police powers, including suspension and closure

● Protection of children from harm

● Drink strengths and the effects of alcohol

Study Tools Worth Checking

A course provider should offer more than slides. Look for 100+ practice questions, a free mock exam and a printed or digital handbook. These tools show how questions are worded before the real test begins.

Understanding the Biiab Personal Licence Qualification

The Biiab Personal Licence route leads to the Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders, known as the APLH. Choosing a BIIAB Recognised Centre gives reassurance that the training follows an approved standard.

Exam Format at a Glance

● 40 multiple-choice questions

● 60 minutes to finish

● Pass mark of 28 out of 40, which is 70%

● Result given straight after the exam

Taking the Exam From Home or Work

Remote invigilation has removed the need to travel to a test centre. Through Prctr.com, a live invigilator greets candidates over Zoom, checks ID and stays on hand throughout.

Slots run every hour from 6 am to 10 pm, seven days a week, so evenings and weekends are covered. Anyone preparing for the Biiab Personal Licence exam should also check whether re-sits cost extra. Here, unlimited free re-sits remove that worry, and the electronic PDF certificate follows the result.

Pricing That Stays Clear

Hidden extras are a common complaint. A fair offer states its price upfront, and this one is £75 plus VAT for the course and exam together.

Candidates should still budget for the later licence application:

● A £37 fee paid to the local licensing authority

● A basic DBS certificate

● Passport-style photographs

● Proof of right to work

Support After Passing

Paperwork can be fiddly, particularly for first-time applicants. The company runs an application service at £150, which handles the process on the candidate's behalf. Having a licensing consultancy in Liverpool behind the course means advice on premises licences and operating schedules is also close at hand.

Social Proof Worth Reading

Reviews reveal what brochures leave out. With a 5.0 rating from over 1,000 reviews on Reviews.io and nearly 700 on Google, the company shows consistent customer satisfaction across 1,730 customers.
