u4gm What to Choose in POE2 Ancient Vows

Act 2 can be a bit cheeky with the Ancient Vows quest. You pick up a relic, the quest log gives you a vague nudge, and then it pretty much leaves you standing there. If you've been farming gear, trading, or even checking prices for something like Fate of the Vaal SC Exalted Orb, it's easy to assume the relic is tied to some vendor, hidden recipe, or later story beat. It isn't. You need two relics, not one, and the game doesn't make that clear enough when you first stumble across the quest item.

Where the first relic drops

The Kabala Clan Relic comes from Keth. There's no special chest to open and no named monster you must hunt down. Just clear the area and kill the snake-like enemies as you move through the zone. It's a random drop, so don't start second-guessing yourself if it takes a few packs. Some players get it almost straight away. Others have to loop around and wipe out more mobs. That's normal. If your inventory is messy, keep an eye on the ground labels, because it's the sort of item you don't want to miss while rushing.

Getting the Sun Clan Relic

After that, head to The Bone Pits for the Sun Clan Relic. This one works in much the same way. It drops from enemies in the area, and again, there's no fancy trick behind it. Clear steadily, don't skip too many groups, and it should turn up. If the zone feels empty, reset it and run through again. It's not glamorous, but it works. A lot of the confusion around Ancient Vows comes from players having one relic in their bag and no real clue that the second one is sitting in a completely different map.

Using the relics at the altar

Once both relics are in your inventory, travel to the Valley of the Titans. The good news is that the altar is close to the waypoint, so you won't need to crawl through the whole zone looking for a tiny interactable object. Look for the large stone medallion-like structure near the waypoint and place both relics into it. If the interface feels awkward, you're not alone. The item placement can be a little fussy. Turning on always-show item labels can help, and sometimes it's easier to open your inventory, slow down, and drag each relic carefully rather than spam-clicking the altar.

Which reward is worth taking

The reward choice is simple, but it does matter while levelling. You can pick 30% increased Charm Charges gained or 15% increased Mana Recovery from Flasks. If your build burns through mana during bosses, the flask recovery feels great and saves you from awkward downtime. If mana isn't a problem, charm charge gain can be the safer pick, especially when charms are covering dangerous elemental hits or nasty status effects. You can also return to the altar later and swap the bonus, so there's no need to panic over it. Players who like planning builds, buying currency, or grabbing items from services such as u4gm may still want to choose based on their current setup rather than some perfect endgame plan.
